Our Services
New Builds
We offer structural engineering services for new construction across Ontario and beyond, supporting residential, commercial, institutional, recreational and industrial projects.
Our residential work includes custom homes, mid-rise residential and supportive housing developments, often involving complex foundations and multi-material structural systems that is tailored to each project’s scope and timeline.
Renovations & Structural Assessments
FH Structural Solutions designs for additions, structural retrofits, and restorations of existing buildings. We assess current conditions, develop engineered solutions for safe modifications, and help resolve issues related to structural performance, damage, or compliance. This includes experience with insurance-related repairs and structural condition surveys—supporting planning, claims, and long-term safety reviews.
Meet the Founders
Andre Hernandez, B.E.Sc., M.Eng., P.Eng.
Vice President
Andre combines sharp technical knowledge with a collaborative, on-the-ground approach. He holds a Master’s in Structural Engineering from Western University, and a Civil Engineering degree from Universidade de Fortaleza in Brazil. He is fully bilingual in Portuguese and English, allowing him to support diverse project teams and stakeholder groups.
A licensed P.Eng. in Ontario, Andre’s experience includes structural modeling, BIM coordination, and designing with concrete, steel, wood, and masonry systems. His work on supportive housing and multi-storey residential buildings reflects both innovation and reliability in action.
Blair Flood, B.E.Sc., P.Eng.
President & Principal Engineer
With over 20 years of structural engineering experience, Blair has led projects across Ontario—from mid-rise developments to affordable and supportive housing. A licensed P.Eng. in Ontario, Alberta, and Newfoundland, he has also held professional engineering licenses in additional provinces, and is known for solving site challenges with confidence and precision.
Before co-founding FHSS, Blair was a senior associate at SWS Engineering Inc., overseeing a wide range of complex builds. He also led project management efforts across several of those builds, gaining hands-on coordination experience. He also brings early-career expertise from geotechnical and material testing work, specifically from his time at Trow Consulting Engineers in their Geotechnical and Building Sciences divisions—giving him a unique end-to-end perspective on how buildings perform.
